Presentations, speeches and PowerPoint

A good speech can engage, persuade and motivate – and it’s a great way for someone to build a profile and reputation.

However, even managers who are natural-born communicators in an informal setting tend to revert to death-by-PowerPoint mode when faced with a large audience at a conference.

Axiom's approach

We write speeches that win hearts and minds. Before we put pen to paper, we work with you to understand your audience, the messages you want to get across and your communication style. We then write a draft of the speech or presentation and work with you to refine it until it’s spot on.

Sometimes, we’ll recommend you deliver it word for word. Other times, it works better if you learn it but then deliver it referring just to cue cards or bullets on ‘comfort’ monitors. Either way, we can coach you to deliver your presentation in a clear and compelling way that inspires your audience to take action – see also our presentation skills training workshop.

When you give a talk, the audience wants to see and hear you. The words you say – and how you deliver them – are what counts. Even so, it can sometimes be helpful to use visuals to illustrate what you’re saying. Where that’s the case, our presentation designers come into play.

We’re dead against subjecting audiences to a hail of bullet points and cluttered diagrams and charts. Instead, we favour a text-light, visual-led approach that gives speakers slide decks that are distinctive, witty and imaginative. We produce visual aids, not sight tests!
