As a former BBC journalist who has also dabbled in showbiz, I have an unusual mix of creative, editorial and technical skills, and when it comes to helping people communicate in the modern world, every one of them comes in handy.
My interviewees - and clients - have ranged from cabinet ministers to Gypsies and Travellers. I have written and performed funny songs on the telly. I've reported on the great issues of the day. Nowadays I do speechwriting, speaker coaching, video, social and traditional media.
What brings it all together, what I've done and what I do now, is storytelling. It's the key thing that all good business communicators must grasp. And it's what gets me up in the morning.
